Started at Lava Camp Lake Trailhead and went counterclockwise. Day 1 = 16.37miles in 6hrs 53min camped at Reese Lake. The lake was warm and have a great view of South Sister Took a break at Moraine Lake at the base of South Sister, boots off and clean off the trail dirt from my legs. Day 2 = 20.9miles in 7hrs 34min camped at the South Fork of Wychus Creek. Probably not the best place to camp account dead standing and burnt trees. It was a cold night, my Nalgene bottle had ice flecks in it and the outlet on my bladder was frozen up. I assume the cold air collected in the draw and the air off the cold creek made it seem like a late fall morning. Once I climbed out it was warm. Day 3 = 14.34miles in 4hr 59min. Water was far between. Had to go Pole creek to Trout creek as nothing else was running. Hiked in a previous burn the whole way and the smoke from the Lionshead fire near Mt Jefferson was in the air as well.
