Los Pinetos Pk. via Los Pinetos Trail rt. Off trail doing the ridge & then steep decent to Wilson Saddle, then picked up Los Pinetos Trail & back to the car. (1/26/21, 8:50:21AM)
Hiked w/ Lark & Storm #TheHuskyPac, Ernie & Jeri.
Weather. Winter cold, 41 F & on return it got to 56 F.
Trail: was in excellent condition, despite recent rain. The ground was frozen close to the summit on the East side of the mountain. Few patches of snow. Mild wind at top. Sun shining all through the hike.
Animals: squirrels, birds
Highly Point of the hike: took the ridge down from the summit. Very steep at some point. Ground in good condition. Not frozen on the western side of the mountain. But, the ground was iced on the eastern side of the mountain. This portion, from summit to Wilson Saddle was “off trail” . Don’t attempt if alone, in the summer or soil too dry. You would need excellent hiking shoes & tracking poles. Also a body system is the safest!
Today was a good day! Feeling grateful to those who work on maintenance of the trail. Cutting the fall trees & making it safe for the hikers & bikers. Great job!
