Cuyahoga Valley NP - Unnamed Trail from Red Lock Trailhead
Great, rugged trail with nice wooded scenery, ravines, and a pretty waterfall at the far end. The trail is not on any National Park maps, but there is an NPS marker at the start that says no mountain bikes. There are also some red and orange blazes that appear after the first climb. The trail was rugged and often difficult to discern, particularly with the fallen leaves covering the forest floor. I lost the trail a few times and had to backtrack, although most times it was because there were further trails heading off in other directions. (I later learned that these trails are all now marked in the new Apple Maps NPS hiking update.) The trail had no snow on it despite there having been a lot of snow recently in Shaker Heights. The primitive trail was muddy, which made the hills particularly troublesome. You can also see that the trail is overgrown in areas, explaining why many reviewers complain about ticks. Best to avoid this trail when muddy or during tick season.
