A spectacular late fall day, in the 50s; not much color left in the trees, but still beautiful. Trail from the old "stump dump" up to the Reservoir is not marked so was hard to follow in a few spots, with so many leaves obscuring the path. Adams Pines trail down to Dogtown Square was easy to follow, but needed clipping in a few spots. Route took us down the Babson Boulder Trail, where we saw between 15-20 of the boulders (out of 30 altogether). All seemed freshly painted, so looked great! At the end of the trail overlooking Babson Reservoir we passed an elaborate campsite - new since the spring, and possibly still in use. Water was low at the stream crossing at Babson, and with no leaves on trees, there were nice views to the water. Hike was on the slower side with all the stops to view the boulders, but still finished in just over 2 hours - not bad. 3.6 miles total (including last leg back to the cars which wasn't tracked.) 16 people on the hike, including several newcomers. Led by Monica.
