We hiked the first part of Company Mill Trail in William Umstead State Park in Raleigh, 1.1 miles in to the river and bridge crossing and 1.1 miles back out. Was a great family hike, easy to moderate. Forest canopy was nice the whole way. Frequent small elevation changes. Quite a few families with small children having fun exploring. If a hiker was to continue past the bridge they would follow a loop around and back to the bridge. Entire hike would extend to 5.9 miles in that case and is shown as difficult.
