King Creek Ridge Hike
There were no official signs as it isn’t a provincially maintained trail. Trailhead is right past the creek on the side of the road just North if the King Creek day use area.
Straight up from the trailhead. No flat parts until you reach the top of the ridge and even then it is a steady uphill. 700 and some Metres of elevation but it was almost all within the first 2km.
Once the ridge flattened out we turned left at a T intersection and it was still uphill, but more so flat bits and then a short steep section.
We ate our snack at a spot on the flat ridge, with a view on both sides, but later realised it wasn’t the top but just a flat bit.
We kept going a bit farther to what we thought was the summit, it was quite rocky getting up there, but at the top we realised it was a false summit. The actual summit was about 100M north, and you has to go down then a bit up again. It was quite rocky and had a really steep and exposed portion so we decided not to do it given that it was only a few metres higher and for basically the same views.
The way down was extremely tough. It was straight down, and very slippery. Lost of loose rocks and dirt. Very dry so it was hard to get any grip. I also had no poles because I was holding Winnie’s leash. It was also very hot on the way down in the afternoon. The way down was very hard.
The way up was difficult but nothing too bad, the way down was very difficult because of the steepness, 700m on its own isn’t too bad but over such a story stretch it was insanely difficult.
