“I need a little room to breathe 'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge I'm about to break”~Linkin Park/One Step Closer. Teanaway Trail Half-Marathon. Race Report. Solid half-marathon trail race for me today. I pushed closer to my edge and only had one little break (trail stumble). I was a little out of control – running the second half faster/negative mile splits. My fastest mile split was my last into the finish with an 8:55. That’s insanely fast for me to be running at the end of a trail race. Turns out I can run a fast pace on trails and finish in a respectable place – when I’m not screwing around burning time at aid stations and stopping to take pics (ok, did that once during today’s race). Archaic race scoring, so I’m not sure how I placed (48th of 125 registered?). Doesn’t matter. I got up, got out and got after a very gratifying trail race today. Half-marathon at sub-10 pace on trails with 1400-feet elevation gain. 32-degrees at the start! Note the one pic that shows rain/snow falling under sunny blue skies – such a Pacific Northwest Day in the mountains. Shout outs to Karen & Amada – Cedar River Runners represented strong today! And kudos to Shannon and Chentale who took on the double loop/full marathon!
