Gaia had the distance at 5.6 miles in 2800 vertical feet. I was able to follow the trail for about the first 4 miles then lost it. I hiked/scrambled up to the ridge and the summit. Views were spectacular. I located the trail on the way down but lost it again. I picked up the trail again at about the 4 mile point coming in. For the first 4 miles there are many trees down but most are single trees that are easily stepped over. After the 4 mile point when you are off trail the uphill terrain is still fairly easy to navigate and I wouldn’t even call it Green heck. Water is available from one of several creeks for the first 4 miles or so. Lots of lupine was visible but that’s about it for the wildflowers. I really enjoyed this hike. I’m getting used to the new normal of burned over and re-growing vegetation.
