Klinaklini River - Upper - Track - With Seamus and Chris
2025.09.24 (Day 1 - Hwy 20 to end of FSR - 30km)
-estimated 24kg of load in kayak, not including gear worn on body
1100 - Put On at Hwy 20
- surprised to hit narrow, steep banks, class 3 early in the trip
1300 - Arrive KK Falls
1500 - arrive at second smaller waterfall / gorge
1845 - Made camp on a sandy ledge like beach in a narrow, winding part of the river.
- bear / moose encounter at night while doing bear hang
2025.09.25 (Day 2 - End of FSR to Hunting Lodge - 27km)
-woke up to a black bear on the other side of the river
- paddled 5 km of class 1 before arriving at 5km long class 3 - 3+ super shallow section.
- Got through it quickly with minimal need to get out of boat
- lots of wood in this section - might be problematic with actual flowing water
- remainder of day was class 1
1400 - paddled past a couple of lodges we didn't get a very close look at
1615 - Arrived at boat in the bushes, which led us to lodge we stayed inside
2025.09.26 (Day 3 - Hunting Lodge Layover Day - 0km)
- waited out rainstorm in this lodge
- Played Crib for the first time
2025.09.27 (Day 4 - Hunting Lodge to Aaron Jones' Lodge - 40km)
-passed through KK Lake
-encountered V+ portage rapid
-ran intermediate class 3 boogie rapids (Taseko / Chilko Style)
-ran two 4+ rapids, easy to scout / portage river right
-saw 3 moose
-found Aaron Jones' lodge and camped on the porch
2025.09.28 (Day 5 - Layover Day Aaron jones' Lodge - 0km)
-waiting on the porch while the atmospheric river passed, spiking level to 700+ cumecs
2025.09.29 (Day 6 - Aaron Jones' Lodge to Frontier Creek - 20km )
-group split up at trophy lake to look for lodges, Chris and Seamus found "Chilanko Private Property" ruins of a few lodges
- found great camping and Heli LZ at Frontier creek thanks to Scott's waypoint
-first sunshine in 4 or 5 days hit us at frontier creek
2025.09.30 (Day 7 - Frontier Creek Evac - 0 km)
-picked up by Jeff Brown, heli pilot that lives in Revy
-Bell 407
-Jeff was supposed to leave and Mike's medical had expired, very lucky we actually got a ride out of there
-Jeff drove us from White Saddle back to car at Kleena Kleene, boats waiting in the neighbor's field.
