The Deer Creek Trail is an intermediate trail and is located in the Gallatin National Forest between Bozeman and Big Sky. The trail is accessible year round, most seasons. The trail typically gets light traffic in the winter time, so it can require serious trail breaking with snowshoes. The area is prime habitat for Big Horn Sheep in the winter. During spring runoff, a stream crossing before the lake can be difficult. There are two lakes, the first is Moon Lake and the second is Deer Lake. From Deer Lake, options abound for the person interested in multiday trips.
