This was a vigorous hike, a bit longer than estimated, but still completed in under 2 hours, going at a steady pace. Almost all the hike was on narrow side trails -- which always requires careful stepping. There were quite a few muddy spots and water crossings, but none that were too challenging. Board walk at Briar Swamp was under water in spots, but still passable. Fire pit at Whales Jaw was nice and clean -- that's a first! Thank you to whoever cleaned it up. With no leaves yet, it's a great time to see through the woods in all directions. For anyone needing transportation -- no one has claimed the hanging bicycle yet! Another big group today -- 29, with Monica as leader, and Martin & Betsy playing sweep & Les Bartlett shepherding the middle. 3.7 miles, completed just under 2 hours. Around 60 degrees, & mostly sunny.
