There aren't a lot of nonpermitted day hiking options available here. This was a nice little hike that afforded a good sense of the valley and expansive views of it as well. The monoliths are truly majestic close up. I saw a couple of horses but given people live in the valley I couldn't say if they were domestic or wild. There were small structures with benches or picnic tables offering shade along the trail. I took a picture of one as I had lunch there and was amused to see a cooler with a sign advertising drinks available on the honor system. All in all worth a slow stroll to experience the valley without the noise of cars or exhaust of tour trucks.
