Bull Gap Trail Started hike at Four Corners and walked up Rd 2080 which is a retrace for about a mile and a half from another hike. Still a beautiful trail with a gentle incline. Plan on coming back to do the upper Bull Gap bike trail. Great views of Mount Ashland and the fogged-in valley on the way up. Fast walk going up with about a 22 minute pace. Met a hunter parked at the bull gap parking. He came up 2080 off of the Ashland snow road. Something to explore on a later hike. We chatted for a bit about the deer season and where he had hiked and then I had lunch at the top of one of the hills above the gap. Beautiful old incense cedars at the top, very rocky, granitic soils. Heading back down along the bike trail and ridgetop with more views of Ashland and huge Cedars. Just realized I can see Split Rock Pk and Wagner Butte to the west. Back down to Douglas-fir woods. Trail joins up with an old logging road which I take to see where it leads. It just goes a few hundred yards to an area where people have had campfires. A little farther down near a dry pond are the remnants of a shack and leveled out area. Hermit? Back on Missing Links Tr. which I take all the way back to the car. I think I could do this whole 10 mile trip on a bike following the same route.
