Headwaters at Duette Preserve, Manatee County, FL Saw 4 deer running across the road as I was driving into the parking lot. Saw two hogs in the 250 lb range rooting in a path. Saw a large deer buck about 1/2 mile east of the loop run across the trail. The loop portion of the trail was quite pleasant and mostly wooded. The trails must get very little use since it is difficult seeing them in places. The track to the east of the loop was to a phosphate mining area. Wanted to go to the top of a large pile of earth to take photos. Phosphate mining and processing almost surrounds this preserve. I hiked some of the trails in this preserve at the beginning of 2016. It was rainy and walked through quite a bit of water then. This time the trails were dry with a couple of soggy spots.
