I knew this was going to be a somewhat quick hike. It was mostly flat along Chalone Creek. There was a fair amount of water, lots of shade and lots of birds! I went through the Balconies Cave. 2 things-you WILL need a light and if the route is not obvious, look for white directional arrows painted on the rocks. Of course hikers coming from the opposite direction are a good sign! I had a fair amount of time left when I got back to the junction of the Old Pinnacles Trail and the North Wilderness Trail so I went up that for about a mile. It's not as well maintained and much drier so be prepared. I only saw one other person on that leg whereas the Old Pinnacles Trail was pretty busy.
