Beautiful in the Norton Woods today -- 50s, mix of sun and clouds. Lots of wet spots after all the rain recently, but nothing impassable -- except maybe the boardwalk, which is falling apart and fast becoming a real hazard! This is the historic "Parishioners Walk" from Squam Road to Revere Street, the main route from Sandy Bay to church in Annisquam. Our hike took us through the middle of the pine trees of Norton Forest, along a couple of trails we haven't done before. We also traveled it in the reverse of our usual direction, which made it seem like a whole new route. Trails are wide and easy most of the way -- just need to watch rocks and roots underfoot. The northern route back has more uphill portions -- but nothing serious. Route was exactly as predicted, 3.7 mi., which we covered at a brisk pace of 2 mph and completed in 1:50 hours exactly. Done right at noon. Led by Phil & Monica, with Ildiko as sweep. 22 hikers total.
