upstruck May 29, 2020 Perfect day for a hike to the summit of Mt Yale. Clear skies and, unusual for Colorado, no wind. the trail was in great shape to a bit below tree line, roughly around 12000'. At that point the trail was covered in snow. My hiking buddy and I lost the trail at that point and had to go cross country over snow fields to attempt to pick up the trail higher on the mountain. Some of the snow was hard pack and was easy to walk on. Some areas we were post holing. Above tree line we were able to pick up the trail and continue to the summit. The scramble to the summit is snow and ice free. The views were terrific.
