Hood - Eightmile Creek- ALL Notes
07/13/2026 sih, cvg
Another nice hike. No cars at trailhead on sunny Monday, just three solo mountain bikers altogether, and one local walking her dog. Trail completely clear courtesy of biking folks, but increasing cumulative amounts of deadfall throughout.
NOTE; going clockwise, about 60/40 distance from trailhead to lunch at lower campground then back to start.

Always a good walk; early July wild flowers in full bloom (bu no cauliflower mushrooms this year). Maybe a half dozen (polite) mountain bikers, solo or couples but only one other couple walking. Lunch by water at Eightmile Crossing Campground.

06/26/2018 (sih, cvg) Very nice walk, mix of woods and small meadows, along a lovely stream for much of the first half. Large variety of wild flowers June to mid-July according to sources, plenty in evidence on our walk. Trail is shared with mountain bikes, but on a last Monday in June, only saw two groups biking (and no other hikers). Grades are all fairly gentle, trail well marked and maintained. About 75% shaded.
Start at Eightmile campground trail head (Highway 35N to Nf 44)
