Exploration of the Northern Area of the Little Manatee River State Park
canoe/kayak launch, Hillsborough County to New River, Pasco County, FL
Hiking Trail, Sun City Center to 17620 South Us Highway 301, Wimauma, FL
Track (1/10/16, 8:12:04AM)
It rained 2" in the area yesterday. The river level rose 2 1/2 to 3'. The trail was covered with water in a few places and had to wade through it. Maximum depth was approximately 8". I would stop before the water, take my shoes and socks off and put flip flops on for wading. Changed out of and into shoes three times.
One bridge had partially washed away some time ago. A temporary repair had been made with 2 x 6 boards at a lower level. It was tricky crossing the temporary repair because it was under muddy water and you could not see the boards.
I always enjoy this trail but today everything seemed fresh and clean due to the rain yesterday.

It was cool and rained for a short time. It was a pleasant hike.\
This trail is still the best in the area.
Track (1/2/16, 8:43:28AM) Duette Preserve in Manatee Co., FL
It was a drizzly day. Had to go through some mud and a foot of water for about 100 yards. Surprised at this since it hadn't rained for quite a while open till today. The walking surface is rough. It has a lot of rocks, The surfaces rough from horses and tractor traffic. There is a lot of high grass and weeds.
Edward Chance Gilley Creek Preserve, Manatee County, FL
19980 Senior 64 East to 20007 State Road 64, Manatee County, FL
All of the trails were two track. Much loose sand which takes more effort to walk. Trails were used by horses on the eastern part.
There were many open areas with just palmettos and a few scattered trees.
There wasn't much solitude due to the traffic on SR 64 and then the people and campers in the main park area to in the western half.
