This hike is AMAZING!! Day 1: You start out at the trailhead which is located at approx. 7,150 feet in altitude.
The first 2 1/2 to 3 miles is a climb. the next 2 miles winds up and down around a balcony. The last mile and a half is another clime to Walker Lake. However, USGS Topo maps has it listed as Walter. 9,325 Feet altitude. Set up camp at Walker Lake. Day 2: In a clock wise fashion you will work you way up to Hook lake, Cove Lake, Sapphire Lake, Cirque lake, cross over the 10,400 foot saddle to Slide lake, Neck lake, Sheep lake and back to Walker. 5.5 miles.
Day 3: Hike back out the way you came in.
18.5 miles al together.
Well worth it!!
