This is a favorite swimming hole for many at JMU.
Kayaked this one with my friend Josh. The lagoon at the end of the trip is Paradise. Absolutely gorgeous! Do be careful though! Gators lurk! On a separate occasion while kayaking this with my dad, a fairly large gator unexpectedly rolled under my kayak. The water was calm and then commotion...I got soaked. Very, very, scary. Thankfully, he swam off without further incident. No lost limbs.
Canoed this one with Andrew. We had a lot of fun. There are some nice Class 2 rapids as well as some flat spots with crystal clear water.
Canoed this one with my friend, Josh. A nice float.
This one is flat for much of the trip, but the end includes Compton's Rapid, a class 2/3 rapid. Very fun!
Went on this trip with my friend Josh. We saw a few gators along the way.
These trails are not very impressive. Parts of the trail were soggy and overgrown. Maybe worth visiting if you are already in the park. The back of the trail map bulletin board indicates this was an Eagle Scout Project from 1995.
This is a nice paved multi-purpose trail to go on a bike ride, walk, roller-blade. While there isn't a lot of good things to say about the beauty of Florida geography, it is cool that you can see huge gators.
Lots of waterfalls and swimming holes here.
This hike was with some best friends. We had fun climbing on rocks and snapping photos, looking for crayfish, seeing Jenny fall into the stream, and best of all attempting to scale across a sheer wall without falling into the rushing stream. Great times!!!
