Good snow all the way. Beyond SL Flat Res I was breaking the trail. Turned back at the mine tailings.
Nice trail for snowshoeing. About 3 feet of snow in the upper stretches, maybe more in Thayne canyon.
I visited nearby Lake Florence and Lake Lillian on this trip also.
A punishing ascent with a few sketchy areas. Terrain is mixed snow, ice, mud, and rock with the snow and ice becoming more prevalent at 9k feet. Traction and poles are a really good idea on this trail for this time of year. There are a few old ruined miner cabins and shafts along the way.
An awesome late season hike before the snow gets deep. This is a longish but moderate hike. Plenty of water along the way.
