Jessy and I carried our backpacks practicing for a Foothills Trail.
It is a lollipop hike - go around the lollipop in a clockwise direction. The trail is predominately on the Palmetto Trail, and a little bit on the Foothills Trail with two separate sections of the hike connecting the two trails using Forest “Roads” as trails. They are wide obvious paths to follow. There is one bit of “bushwhacking” from the Foothills Trail down to “Pigeon Gap Road” of about 100 feet. You can see Pigeon Gap Road from the Foothills Trail since there are very little leaves right now…it would be much more difficult to see in the summer.
There are about 5 water crossings. We were able to rock hop across all of them but if there is a lot of rain the previous days the last crossing may require water shoes or at least waterproof hikers
