Galloping Goose Sooke Potholes to Leechtown
Biked this section of the galloping goose. We did numerous short side trips down to the Sooke River. Lots of swimming options. We parked at parking lot #3.
Mackenzie Bight Loop
Quick hike to the inlet via the cascade trail and back via the Mackenzie Bight trail. Makes for a great swim access spot. We swam and water was about 65F. Waterfall is seasonal and was not running. Hike rated easy.
Mount McDonald, Malcom Mountain, John Stick Mountain Hike
Nice hike up three peaks in the Sooke Wilderness Area. Hike is easy to follow. There are two easy scrabble spots with ropes for helping. Views are great of Victoria and the straights.
Jocelyn Hill (Gowland Todd Provincial Park)
Great hike easily completed in less than 2 hours with lots of time for photos. Steepest at the start to gain elevation then nice hike easy to follow along the ridge. Once in ridge there are numerous excellent viewpoints.
Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park Loop
We hiked a loop consisting of Mount Braden, Castle Peak and Plateau Peak. Parking is found alongside the highway. Trail head is about 150m from the parking lot back towards Victoria. Trail in great shape. Trail varies from old logging road to easy to follow path and a couple tricky spots on plateaus where the trail is faint.
Kayak from Royal Roads to Pacific Fleet Kayak Club
Great paddle from Royal Roads University thru the Esquimalt Lagoon to the pacific fleet kayak club. Lots of seals and birds to check out along the way. Paddling in the lagoon at high tide is best.
Jocelyn Hill via Timber man trail
The beginning of the hike we walked down to Mackenzie Bight. Added 1.8km and 120m elevation to the hike. You can avoid it by going past the first trail head along the road 100m to the Timber man trailhead.
