Road Trip Estes Park to Denver
After breakfast we headed to Beaver Meadows Visitor Center to watch the movie. It was mostly romantic.
Then we decided to use time available to take a road trip through the park heading west on Trail Ridge Road.
Picture at Rainbow Curve.
Then stop at Cut Rock to hike Tundra Communities Trail.
Then onto the Alpine Visitor Center to get the local cancellation stamp. We decided to skip the Alpine Ridge Trail which was a very steep up uphill climb.
The ranger said that the source of the Colorado River is La Poudre Pass which is not easily accessible by car.
Then stopped at the Colorado River Trailhead. From here one can hike to the source of the Colorado River at La Poudre Pass.
Then stopped at Coyote Valley for pix of the young Colorado River.
Then stopped at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center for another cancellation stamp.
Then back in the car to finish the trip to our hotel near the Denver airport. Traffic through Denver was brutal.
We checked in at the Baymont by Wyndham Denver International Airport at 6805 Argonne St, Denver, CO 80249.
Had a trail bar for dinner in the hotel room. Then did our packing in preparation for the flight home the next morning.
