This is a blue blazed loop irregularly maintained by the Florida Trail Association. Some sections are overgrown but the trail is easy enough to navigate with the blazes being in sight of each other. Prepare tall grass, cramped dwarf cypress and mud and water.

A trail with a little bit of everything. I recommend going off trail and into a cypress for a, literally, immersive experience.

Nice hike today, trail completely dry. Some birds, some gators, and two deer crossed our path. Trail is well marked.

We traveled from NC to Florida then Headed west /south to Bartow and camped at Peace River Campground Arcadia Fl. From their to Naples Pier and then to Big Cypress Preserve and Everglades City. Camped in the Preserve at Beat Island 30 miles in. Was wilderness Beautiful but had to be inside at sunset to survive mosquitoes. Saw many species of birds, black racer snakes, huge and numerous alligators, lizards, turtles, frogs, 1 wild hog . Then headed East and then north to St Augustine which isn’t tracked here.

Big cypress was a lot of dirt roads a camping area that was very cool called bear island and some great scenic driving that were not too difficult on any 4 x 4 vehicle

Great experience one way trip. Around 250 alligators at the road.
