Awesome loop. We started outside Escalante camping at the campground at the Heritage center. We started our hike there going out Boulder Mail Trail dropping into Death Hollow. On the way out we dropped the packs to go see the natural arch in Mamie Creek. We dropped into Death Hollow and followed the creek down about a half mile before stopping to make camp. 12 miles. The next day we made our way down to Escalante River and hiked back out to our start. 15 miles. We brought our little heeler fog with us and she loved it. Lots of poison ivy! My wife got a bit on her leg. I came out unscathed. Wear long pants and long sleeves.

nobody does this hike as drawn, that’d miss the best parts - try parking at the Mail Trail trailhead near the Boulder UT airport (the route shown here is the old Boulder Mail Trail, start at the east end), walk west to Death Hollow, south down Death to the Escalante River (watch for poison ivy, which is abundant), then east to UT-12 and hitchhike back to the airport - this is a two or possibly three day hike, Death is the prettiest part (but again, lots of poison ivy)
