This is an absolutely beautiful section of the great Allegheny passage trail. Crushed limestone, nice and smooth and two fantastic little towns to visit.

A fun and easy hike around the falls, optionally climbing rocks along the river, and through the woods. A lot of people, but there was plenty of room.

We wanted a hike that was half easy and half moderate for novice hikers. Great Gorge was exactly that. First half on west side was easy hike through the woods while listening to river. After cucumber falls leading to east side was rocky and hilly. Needed good footing. Lovely river views from east side of hike.

Awesome hiking path! All uphill the first half then a nice downhill for the second. Trail is well marked and easy to follow. I hit one mud spot but was able to get around pretty easily. It was decently rocky and next time I’ll wear my better hiking boots. The uphill is rather quiet, but about halfway down the second half you can start to hear cars from both roads near you. Wasn’t an issue but thought it should be mentioned since the road work they’re currently doing does make things a bit louder with the big trucks coming through.
