Granite creek camp site hike along the granite creek to confluence of John Day River. On granite there are several switch backs and River crossings by bridge. Directly at the confluence is a flat area with camp site. The obvious trail leads west across a bridge and then meanders up the slope and continues up and along John day river downstream. As I couldn’t find the continuation of the trail going upstream and the left side of John day at the confluence I did indeed cross over and headed up the hill to realize that it was the wrong trail. However, decided to just go across the hillside upstream rightside of the river as it was ways going back down and because of the river bend it seemed to be a shortcut. Going along the hillside without trail was difficult though and eventually very steep before hitting the river again. Additionally had to wade through the river as no crossing. Thereafter mostly easier trail along upstream at both river sides. However no clear river crossings at all - stone hopping and partially moving rocks in river to build a bridge. Rest of the trail along crane river is beautiful and easier except the elevation gain. The trail was not listed/marked in Gaia - will submit.
Notably in small sections I lost the trail and later found it again - mostly due to overgrowth & lack of trail maintenance.
