We visited on a perfect winter day. The trail was packed powder, but I still found microspikes to be helpful. It’s a very steady uphill climb for the second half half of the hike, but minimal extreme steepness often encountered on other White Mountain trails.

A long hike but worth it! Good views, river, and forest. Not steep, lots of rocks and the trail was boggy. I trail ran it in 4.5 hours, would take longer to hike.
