Overview

Apex Park is a protected area in Colorado. It is a Jefferson County Open Space Park so it has great trailhead restrooms and maps. The trails are varied in steepness, shadiness, and views and there is a running stream along the park's southern edge. In winter the shaded trails are icy so bring microspikes if hiking.

Getting Started

Apex is located in Golden, with easy access off Heritage Road and US-40/Colfax, just north of the old Heritage Square. Enter just north of US-40, right before the fire station. Connectors to both Lookout Mountain Park and the local neighborhood. There is ample free paved parking

When to Go

This is a very busy park, with alternating biker and hiker days, so check with JeffCo Open Space website for the day you plan to visit. Many of the trails were re-named in connection with this 2020 changeover, so be sure to look at the TH kiosk maps and pick up a new paper map.

Permits

No permits or parking fees required.

Dog Info

Dogs are permitted on leash. This is a very popular park for dogs owners since it is near to town.
