Mojave Road, through Mojave National Preserve, has some epic views, some great obstacles and some killer camping spots. Not gonna say it was my favorite trip due to the fact that 75% of the driving was washboard washes with woopdido’s. Hard on the rig and not super fun cause you hardly break 15 miles an hour and that’ll put you to sleep. Otherwise the camping was sick just south/west of the lava tubes in a canyon, cul de sac. The river crossing was pretty cool and the expansive views were epic. Overall I gave it 3 stars.

My 11 year old daughter and I completed this hike on a breezy, cool day in late April. We began at the Black Rock Canyon Campground (parked at the ranger's office) and picked up the trail right behind campsite #30 (as directed by the ranger). The NPS rates this as a difficult hike, but I would rate it as moderate. After California's wet winter, there were still quite a few Joshua trees, wildflowers, and cacti blooming during our hike. We hiked at a moderate pace, took a 20 minute snack break, and still completed the round trip at just a touch over 3 hours.

Short, easy hike to the 49 Palm Oasis. Not sure if there are 49 palms but there were a lot of them. A lot of people on the trail too. A few wild flowers were in bloom.

Easy hike with an nice view of palms. Amazing how people carve into these beauties and even had a fire that charred some of them.

Easy out and back traill to scenic palm oasis. The trail is heavily traveled. Don't expect much solitude.
