This is iconic, first day of the W Trek.
This is also a lot like Disney meaning there are herds of hikers, making it difficult to get rhythm at all.
I did not summit to the lake but my hiking partners did and said the views were worth it. I literally turned around almost to the lake but I had reached the end of my capability and still had to hike back to camp.

Another ride. Load up and walk. 9:45.

All at same time.
Trail good mostly.
Plenty of mud.
9 miles. Seton. Kitchen, real bathrooms, showers.
Sleep in elevated tent.

What a perfect day for a hike in Patagonia. We could access this trail from our hotel. Great hike with spectacular views of the Torres del Paine peaks and lakes. Assent 2500 feet, 10 3/4 miles and it took us 8.75 hours to complete. But, it was worth it. I highly recommend this hike.

In general if you only looking for glacier France you can be back from Glacier France view point which about 20 mins hike from Italiano, pass the view point this trail will become rocky

Truly amazing hike and very hard. Solid elevation profile, 3300 feet of climbing (the descent is tough/ poles help!). This RT time includes an hour or so at the top; and other stops, total hike time closer to 8 hours.

This was the last leg of our W trek and it did not disappoint. We hiked into the teeth of 60mph wind gusts over very rugged terrain. The views of the icebergs floating in Lago Grey were very cool!

Disappointing if you don't make it to lake/viewpoint. Didn't have enough time to hike the last mile or so up the boulder and Cree field to lake. Boring uphill hike with minimal views.
