Water temp at campsite 64F which actually felt warm after being in it for a minute. The Chute was over dramatized in the book.

Circuitous route after portages from Isaac, last one had quite steep descent by the falls. Stunning falls. Water and air temp at dusk both 54F. Three other canoes flipped and we helped rescue one’s gear. River below Isaac falls is not for beginners. Two canoes tipped there. One in the Chute by father who’s done this 7 times and his son.

We had the best weather, no rain, even though forecast, for 7 full days of canoeing and hiking. Did most side hikes. Track and all portages were good. Scenery was amazing just some haze from forest fires.

Bowron Lakes West Circuit + Sandy lake via Cariboo River.
Such a gorgeous place. Photos do not do it justice. Do yourself a favour and get out there. Flat glassy lakes for most of our trip, dramatic thunder + lightening storms in the late afternoons but we never got rained on. Wildlife was incredible. Sandy lake is a must for those willing to slug it upstream on the Cariboo river.
