This was the wildest hike I have done so far, full of constantly changing spectacular scenery and challenging terrain. The track is easy to follow and has raised platforms in the boggy places, but still presents a significant challenge especially when it rises steeply through the rainforests, and the peak itself requires some minor rock scrambling. To complete it in 3 days I took a day pack and skipped the final hut, which is 1.5 hrs from the summit. If I did it again I would spend more time at the final hut which is nice and new and surrounded by the most spectacular scenery including a beautiful lake which provides hydro electric power to heat the hut.
