Great hike! Steady ascent was challenging, but moderate overall. Fine for kids (10 and 12) and dog. Got soaked by a passing storm just before the summit. Wish we did Mizpah Hut on the ascent (the Cutoff trail was challenging to climb down in the rain). A great day overall. Time for a brew!

Jun 21 2014 - Mount Pierce
We wanted to do a 4K mountain so we packed everyone in the car and headed north. We picked Mount Pierce since everyone was saying it was the easier of all the 4000 footers. After climbing and climbing, we made it to the Mizpah Cutoff and toward the hut. We ate some lunch outside the hut in the wind and then headed up some more to the summit. We were actually considering going over to Eisenhower but some very wise hikers we met at the summit convinced us it was too late to make that attempt. So down the mountain and back to the car we went.
