Very nice! I actually did a sort of double-red loop, first taking the “short red trail” cutoff and then doubling back to complete the outer loop, too. Per other recommendations, I did the trail counter-clockwise, which put the ankle-deep water crossing towards the end of the hike. Mostly flat but with just enough elevation differential to keep things interesting. The first part of the trail suffers from Hwy 65 road noise, but once you get a bit past the cemetery, that dissipates and for almost the entire rest of the time (until the last bit through the campground area), it’s very quiet and serene through dense woods. My first Busiek hike; looking forward to trying the rest of them!
NB: the shooting range is closed Mondays so that may be a good day to do the west side hikes.
