Cable Line Trail
The more direct route to the West Tiger 3 Summit, Cableline is aptly name as you navigate a straight shot carved in the earth for the old cables running to the towers a top the tiger mountain forest. This hike gains over 2,000 feet in just 1.5 miles where you will join the rest of the climbers to the summit of West Tiger 3. A steep, slippery incline awaits you here. There are no switchbacks, steps, or any assistance besides a clearing in the trees. This is one of Washington state's best conditioning hikes, and you will often see mountaineers lugging heavy packs up and down in the name of training.
From I-90E, Take exit 20 and then turn right onto the frontage road paralleling the interstate. In just under 0.5 mile the road ends at a gate. The gate opens daily, though it is closed and locked at 7:00 PM. The Cable Line Trailhead is to your left, a couple hundred feet before reaching the gate.
This is not a good hike for children. In the winter, expect this to be an icy snowfilled chute. In the summer it will be loose dirt and scree. There are minimal switchbacks, no steps, and a massive gain in a short distance.
This is an alternate route for West Tiger #3 Loop via Cable Line Trail and West Tiger 3 trail.
