Overview
This is an easy point to point trail along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This trail goes by Scenic Overlook. It meanders through spindly forests (often shrouded in fog during the early mornings) until it reaches the picnic shelter. The trail branches off to another scenic overlook at the shelter. This trail is most popular in late May through early June to catch the Catawba rhododendrons in peak bloom. The bright orange flame azaleas also bloom around the same time.
Getting Started
This hike can begin at either the Craggy Gardens Picnic Area or the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center (milepost 364.5) off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
