NW Anderson Lake Loop via Circle Drive(edit)

An indoor hiking tour of Friendship Village 2025-08-18 1305. While Martha attended a book club retreat at St. John College, I seized the opportunity to explore the interior of our new surroundings—what I playfully call our virtual luxury cruise ship, the goodship Friendship Village. Other analogies that have come to mind are a summer camp for seniors or a college campus for seniors. The door in our apartment opens onto a small patio leading to a landscaped courtyard, but today I opted to stay inside. I wanted to see just how far I could walk within the single-building complex for reference during the winter months. I wandered the hallways on all three floors of each of the three residential wings. I visited all the indoor public spaces as well—the entry hall, the assembly hall where we attend lectures and movies, all three restaurants, the library, the fitness center, and the swimming pool. I learned that I could walk 1.4 miles remaining inside and I met many fellow residents along the way. My photos, with captions, capture the highlights of my indoor tour.
