Ww Sue. Last day before they closed the trailhead for 3 yrs to replace the Fryingpan bridge. They had posted signs in the parking lot saying it was actually closing at 1pm that day so parked down the road a half mile. Great weather though cold starting out and lots of frost going up to Summerland. Snow on upper slopes with Panhandle now covered with fresh blanket and looking more normal from what it did just 20 days ago. I had forgotten Sue's pack with water, PB&J and shirt but turned out to be fine since I had lots of food and her windbreaker. I went and checked out the Summerland campsite s while waiting for Sue to do the switchbacks. Sat on our big rock and ate our lunch before heading up to the lakes below Panhandle. The last 3 miles were boring like always. Only saw 3 marmots all day and it was probably the same one each time. The large bags of rocks by the trail we saw last time were now gone so must have flown them out. Also the upper log crossing was now pulled out and tied to a cable pinned to a rock .
