This is a wonderful uphill hike through varied forest including old-growth cedars, to a cabin which must be booked with the Prince George Backcountry Recreation Society. If you want to bushwhack from there, you can explore several peaks and Red Mountain Lake. With packs it realistically takes 4-6 hours to get to the cabin. Note that as of 2023 the best starting point is where the trail crosses the Fraser Flats logging road. Turn left at the fork about 3 km east of Longworth onto the Fraser Flats road, and follow it 14.5 km to the hiking trail sign. There is a small parking lot.
