As far as a good trail to run it’s spot on for beginners. It’s a short run at 1.58 (signs read 1.7) but I just do laps to get more distance. The terrain is perfect and very technical, keeping you engaged for the entire run. Also, 90% of the course is course gravel making it durable enough to run in wet conditions (with proper tread). The trail is usually not crowded and if you do see other hikers or walkers they are polite and give runners the right of way. Red Clay is a powerful place, and after your run or hike I highly recommend visiting the museum and the grounds to learn about the Cherokee councils that were held there, and the beginning of the Trail of Tears.
