As a Mainer. This was epic. Do not do this without enough water. Do not do this with an unreliable vehicle or a 2 wheel drive vehicle. Conditions beyond the last road intersection to the washout and trail head can change. Yes you can see Area 51 from the top. Barely any cell service so an injury could be catastrophic. There is at least Verizon cell service before the last road intersection for a brief period and the summit. This is 20 miles off road and around a 3/4 mile hike. We camped the night.Be ready for high winds and check the weather forecast.You can also look at the Tikaboo weather station data for the most current summit conditions.
