Horseshoe Ridge Loop via Gateway Loop
Overview
This is a easy loop trail in McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
This trail goes by Horseshoe Ridge, Lookout, and Gateway Trailhead.
This hike starts out from the very well maintained Gateway Trailhead in Scottsdale, AZ. This trailhead has plenty of parking, restrooms and water. The Gateway loop is a 4.5 mile hike that takes you up a low saddle and winds back around to the trailhead. Along the way you will have beautiful views of the desert and during the spring the wildflowers are in bloom adding to amazing landscape. The trail is somewhat rocky so you will want to wear study hiking shoes and bring plenty of water.
Getting Started
GATEWAY TRAILHEAD
18333 N. Thompson Peak Pkwy. Scottsdale, AZ 85255
Follow the main trail from the parking area to the Gateway Loop trail, turn left to begin the loop.
Taking Children
This would be a good hike for children.
