Chimneys Trail(edit)

Overview

The Chimneys trail is a relatively easy trail leading to the Chimneys rock formation in Big Bend National Park. The trail can either be completed as an out and back to the rock formation or as a one way trip starting at the parking area on Ross Maxwell Drive and ending at Old Maverick Road. Be advised, the one way option will require a shuttle to return to the parking area on Ross Maxwell Drive.

Be advised, there is no shade or water along the trail and temperatures can reach over 100 degrees F during the summer months.

Getting Started

There is a small parking area at the trailhead on Ross Maxwell Drive that can accommodate several vehicles.
