This is a good way to get some exercise in this area. We did the 3.3 mile loop in 77 minutes (Age 76). There are not a lot of great hikes in Eastern North Carolina, but we come here 2 or three times a year during our 6 month stays in NC. Younger folks are seen jogging this trail, and some occasional bikes. There is no great elevation change, but there are some ups and downs, (a rarity along the coast). If you pause you can see some wildlife in the adjoining salt marshes.
