South Saint Vrain Drive(edit)

The sights and sounds of flowing water made for a sublime beginning to my hike! I saw 4 other hikers today. Talked with a young guy from Minnesota for quite a while. Between that, picture taking and fixing microspikes with dental floss it made for a very slow hike. Was scared by close gunshots when almost back to the trailhead. I yelled and clacked my poles. I rounded a corner and saw three people. When I told them they scared the crap out of me, a girl laughed and said "Sorry Honey, they're shooting at trees down below and I'm blowing bubbles!

Took a lot of flowers pics and coupled with elevation gain made for a very slow pace going up. Encountered a storm @ .7 miles. Not much rain but a fair bit of thunder and lightning made for an electrically intense time. As it was heading south and the sky looked lighter ahead I decided to press on which was a good call. Fun time!
