Overview

This trail is rated as difficult, but I would rate it as moderate. The trail is actually a dirt road that seems to be closed to vehicles. I went on a cold, blustery day with lots of fog, so there wasn’t much to see—I’m sure the views are spectacular on clear days. Check in at the ranger station on the way in, pay $10, and park in the campground.

It was a good uphill for almost two miles. And then some ups and downs to get to the peak. Started 645am. Lots of bugs. Recommend bug net. It allows you to enjoy the hike without bugs flying in your nose, Eyes and mouth. The view is breathtaking. And fun part is you have a ladder and a few ropes to get you to the top.

This hike was 2.6 miles of hot uphill dirt road into 1.8 mile of beautiful forest. The insane amount of bugs ruined the vibe and that was just one way. It’s view from the summit is pretty but nothing a short hike in Cuyamaca or drive to Palomar couldn’t replicate.
