Sawtooth Lakes Loop Day 1: Crater Creek TH to Upper Eagle Lake
Hiked with Becca, Sarah, and Eric. Nice gentle grade on the ascent up to Upper Eagle, which was absolutely gorgeous with lots of larch trees, a nice backdrop of jagged ridges, and deep, clear water. Some of the most amazing alpine cutthroat fishing I’ve ever seen. Caught two nice trout by the outlet within about a half hour that we cooked up and made fish tacos with. One was ~13” and I watched another guy catch one even bigger, probably 16+ inches. This would be a great one to go back to for Larch Season!!
